Born in Trieste, Italy with musical and familial ties to famed opera star Giovanni Martintelli, Larry emigrated to New York City. While in high school, Larry befriended Gene Simmons of KISS. In fact, Larry provided acoustic guitar and vocals on Gene's first demo tape. Around that time, Larry formed his first band, The Outsiders, later renamed Cabiria. With founding member Mark Nyburg, the band played the legendary Max's Kansas City, Folk City, and CBGB's. Sharing the bill at CBGB's with the Ramones, Blondie and Tom Petty, Larry recorded two songs on "The Best of Underground LP" for Atlantic Records. Cabiria's single, "Disciple" was picked up by Cannon films and is still seen on the USA Cable Network and Cinemax. Larry also did stints as bass player for Screaming Jay Hawkins of "I put a Spell on You" fame and sang at Eubie Blake's 100th birthday bash. Larry Martinelli
